We held our Annual Picnic and People’s Choice Concours at Black Rock Fish and Game Club on Sunday, September 13. Despite COVID-19 "adjustments", those in attendance enjoyed getting together for a bit of socially-distanced HVR camaraderie and had fun voting for their favorite Porsches.
Winning in the Early 911 category was Kevin and Denise Dollard with their 1970 911T. Taking the award for 1999 to present 911’s was Josh Aaron’s awesome 2018 GT2 RS. In the Boxster/Cayman category, President Bruce Coopersmith had to hand the award to himself for his 2014 Boxster! Finally, the Best of Show award went to Rich Triggiani’s 2008 911 Turbo Cabriolet. Saunderskill Farms features local, seasonal fresh produce, baked goods and a variety of coffee, as well as ready made lunches and soups. You can also buy pumpkins and apples from their own orchard. This event is limited to 25 cars. Members must RSVP to Bruce Coopersmith at email@example.com by October 12th and indicate how many people will be in their car. All attendees must wear a mask/face covering (except when eating) and observe social distancing.

The HVR PCA Board is pleased to announce that we will be proceeding with our Annual Picnic and People’s Choice Concours event on September 13, but due to the restrictions imposed by NY State, we are holding it with some modifications:
The event will be limited to the first fifty (50) people who register, first come, first served. The cost will be $10 per person and all attendees must pre-register, pre-pay, and complete the required PCA CDW (Communicative Disease Waiver) in advance. Although we normally encourage full family participation at our events, in order to accommodate a maximum number of our members who desire to attend, due to the state-mandated attendance limitation we are limiting the event to members and one spouse/family member/guest. No walk-ins will be allowed. Face coverings/masks will be required and all customary social distancing protocols will be followed.
Unfortunately, due to the complexity of offering food to our members within NY State guidelines, we are asking all attendees to please bring your own desired food, snacks, and soft drinks/water to this picnic. If you wish, alcoholic beverages will be available for sale at the bar near the pavilion. We still anticipate plenty of fun by getting together with your fellow HVR buddies for good conversation, as well as admiring and voting on your favorite Porsches, with a chance to win and take home a handsome award!

Plan to join fellow HVR members for a delicious catered lunch at the Pavilion on the pastoral grounds of the Blackrock Fish & Game Club while checking out our region’s beautiful Porsche’s and maybe come home with an award! To ease compliance with COVID restrictions, all attendees will need to pre-register (no walk-ins). We will use ClubRegistration.net and expect to have registration open by mid-August, so save the date now! Cost will be $25/person.

The Board of Directors of the Hudson Valley Region, Porsche Club of America, would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support during these challenging times. Even though in-person social and driving activities have been on hold, we want you to know that the planning of events is going forward. As a start, our April Driver’s Education event at Lime Rock Park has now been rescheduled for July 28th (due to COVID-19 restrictions, only Solo Drivers will be permitted). Registration and details can be found on ClubRegistration.net or contact Track Chair Kevin Challacombe for more information.

While we were all hopeful that Spring Breakout could be held as scheduled on June 7th, it has become evident that such a gathering is not possible at this point in time. Regrettably, this is the first time in 30 years that we have had to cancel this cherished event. We are looking into holding a similar event later in the year.
